Efficient Report Delivery Using UPExpress

When my boss proposed starting an unclaimed property blog, we agreed that it should be presented as a source of information for anyone involved in reporting unclaimed property. Our goal is to provide you with useful information, without presenting it as a commercial for our specific unclaimed property reporting software.
With that said, I’d like to tell you about UPExpress. We have agreements with 25 states to provide a reporting portal where you can upload your cover sheet and NAUPA file for free, even if you actually created the report using a system other than UPExchange.
Why spend time and money burning files to CDs and paying to ship them when we have provided this great method of getting your report and coversheet directly to the state?
Please click here to view our press release about UPExpress where we list the 25 participating states. You’ll notice there are 5 states that also allow you to make the payment through UPExpress.
Here’s how it works. Create your NAUPA file and coversheet with whichever software vendor you are currently using. You’ll want to save the coversheet as a file. PDF format works very well. If you don’t have a way to create the cover sheet as PDF, I would recommend using CutePDF. This is a free PDF creator that you can install. It works just like a printer. You can open the cover sheet, choose to print, and choose CutePDF as the printer to process the job. This converts the file to PDF and lets you choose where to save the file.
Now you’re all set to access UPExpress here. Click the Report Unclaimed Property button. Enter your holder information and click Continue. Enter your billing information, which will only be used if you choose to report and pay for the 5 states that will accept the payment as well through UPExpress. Click Continue. Select the Report State and Filing Year. Now you can browse to where you’ve saved the NAUPA file and the coversheet for that state.
Read the terms presented by the state carefully then click I Agree and Continue. You’ll be presented with Transaction Information which will show no payment due, unless you are choosing to submit your remittance as well.
When you click Submit, we automatically deliver your files to the state using a secure delivery method. The state will receive an email notification to let them know your files are available. We will present you with a voucher that contains a Submission Number. Print the voucher and send with your payment. The Submission Number is how the state matches your report with the payment.
Note: Arizona still requires a signed hard copy of the coversheet. For Arizona, send the voucher and the hard copy of the coversheet.
It’s as simple as that. Please give UPExpress a try. We think you’ll love the simplicity of this innovative report delivery system.
